Project Description
PROJECT CREDIT
TEDxAcademy Design Alley in Athens saw the RE Imagine Greece 2030 theme as an opportunity for inspiration in order to build visions that may be transformed into dynamic and effective life models for the future. Choosing the challenging field of food and nutrition, our research was focused on the connection of food with promising future technologies.
Simultaneously and open-mindedly we re-approached the Greek food culture, proposing a number of design scenarios under the theme.
RETASTE Greece - A food design future.
A team of selected young product designers with experience gained through studies in universities, both in Greece and abroad, thoroughly elaborated the presented proposals in a series of intensive summer workshops. The showcased examples varied from apparatus for seasonally operated interactive tasting in restaurants to new herb-consuming ritual kits and from domestic superfood micro-factories to environments of alternatively experiencing food in public.
A project which effectively mixes interactive micro farming with augmented reality devices in an open-source cultivation platform, was also presented. Using design thinking and exploring a vast number of fields, with the generous support of mentors, distinguished in their fields of expertise, the participant designers traced new roads and explored unexpected tracks, daring to suggest dynamic solutions to issues that as they predict may engage us as individuals and as societies.
The voice of this young generation of creatives is only starting to be heard. Firmly believing that the quest and the systematic exploitation of innovation constitutes the only way of development differentiation for a country in crisis, RETASTE Greece project aimed to underline, that there is always fertile ground for innovative thinking. A factor greatly needed in order to RE-Build promising
perspectives for future Greece.
